Country.

Our

wine

country adventure began in 2002, with little else than a love of

wine

. We had found an ideal property in the beautiful

Waipara

Valley north of Christchurch on

New Zealand

's South Island. At that time there was a whisper

Waipara

was about to take off as

New Zealand

's fastest growing

wine

region and planting a

vineyard

seemed like the perfect idea. We planted

Chardonnay

and

Pinot Noir

.

Fast forward to early 2006. We were having such a great time with everything we had experienced starting our

wine

business in

Waipara

that we knew we wanted to expand our operation to our other home,

Napa Valley

, California. We both have friends and family in

New Zealand

and North America and wanted to be able to share our love of making

wine

in both countries.

In

Waipara

and

Napa

, we have found all of the things we love the most, a challenging and fun new business to which we can devote our energy, great times together with friends and family, regions that are world renowned for their production of fabulous food and

wine

. To top it off they are both surrounded by some of the most beautiful scenery in the world--bordered by mountains--the Sierras and Southern Alps for skiing in winter and the Pacific Ocean for fishing and sailing in summer (though they are on the opposite side!)

Building a

vineyard

and starting a

wine

business is a fantasy shared by many. We have been lucky to have the advice and encouragement of many people as we started out, our family and friends, fellow

wine

growers in our

Waipara

community and throughout the

New Zealand

wine

industry, as well as all the

wine

industry resources available in California. We really enjoyed everything about the business, from working in the

vineyard

to label design and marketing, to doing tastings in places as widespread as Christchurch,

New Zealand

, and Aspen, Co., St. Lous, Mo., Chicago, Il., and San Francisco, Ca., USA.Thanks to everyone who has helped us along the way on this incredible adventure.

is there are unique things to do in each area! This train has been restored to its former glory and offers a great way for visitors to see
